Cartwright offers to help operators meet new Southern Ireland vehicle height

Cartwright is offering to come to the aid of operators who will be affected by the new vehicle height limit which has recently been introduced by the Southern Ireland government.

The Southern Ireland Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has confirmed that from this month the maximum height of any vehicle on Irish roads - including HGV's - will be 4.65 metres following a recent European Directive.

The height limit applies to the load as well as the vehicle itself.

The new regulation will affect hundreds of transport companies operating both within and to and from Southern Ireland.

Cartwright has offered to replace existing 4.88 metres double deck equipment with 4.65 metres double decks and had already started to prepare for the new height regulation by building new trailers for its rental fleet in anticipation of the new limit.

Darren Holland, Director of Sales at Cartwright commented: "We have already been preparing for this new vehicle height limit in Southern Ireland as we had received calls from a number of our customers expressing concern. We have advised them that we are very happy to replace their existing equipment with new trailers which will meet the new regulation limit."
