Certex rope and lifting equipment company awarded LEEA accreditation

Specialist training courses run by one of the industry’s most successful training provider have been awarded official accreditation from the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA).

National lifting gear distributor, Certex UK, has won the full backing of LEEA for its two most popular industry training courses – the Lifting Gear Examination Course, a 2-day course covering all skills required by a lifting engineer to carry out periodic inspections of lifting gear in accordance with LOLER regulations, and the LOLER and PUWER Course, aimed at managers and users looking to gain a better understanding of the legal requirements of the Statutory Instructions.

A third course on Wire Rope Socketing is also in the process of being accredited, after which it is likely that Certex UK’s entire training portfolio will be verified under the LEEA banner.

According to Adrian Kirkham, Training Manager for Certex UK, the accreditation means subtle changes in paperwork and certain administrative procedures but, in essence, it does not change any of the course content or the standard of training offered. Above all, he says, LEEA accreditation gives all delegates the benefit of an officially recongised certificate with the added bonus of peace of mind.

‘Certex UK has been delivering training courses within the lifting industry for 20 years and has a reputation for being a market leader in the instruction of rope inspection and industry regulations,’ said Adrian Kirkham.

‘We work hard to keep our course content continually up to date so while we are delighted to have won official recognition from LEEA it came as no surprise to learn that the material within each course syllabus has been verified while remaining intact. Certex UK was a founder member of LEEA and has worked very closely with the organisation so our understanding and appreciation of industry legal requirements is second to none.’

Certex UK offers a variety of courses aimed at specific industry sectors including manufacturing, construction, ports, defence and offshore. Courses are generally held at the company’s training centre in Harworth, Nottinghamshire, though there is the option for Certex trainers to deliver courses on company premises in the case of larger groups. Each course uses a combination of practical teaching and theory paying close attention to relevant legal requirements at all times.

Bespoke training courses can also be offered depending on a company’s specific requirements and the type of equipment used on site.

Charles Gillespie, Marketing Director for Certex UK, added: ‘It is a great accolade to have LEEA’s full endorsement in this way. All our courses are well attended and we are known for running cost-effective training programmes that remain relevant to today’s industry. We like to think that we offer ‘live’ courses with all material being regularly assessed and reviewed to keep up with changing conditions.’
