Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT appoints Donna Cresswell Chief Operating Officer

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) has appointed Donna Cresswell as Chief Operating Officer. This new appointment is designed to take responsibility for running the day-to-day operations of the Institute and developing commercial opportunities, freeing Chief Executive Steve Agg to develop wider external CILT policy and profile matters.

Donna Cresswell joins CILT following recent posts as Director of Communications at the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Head of Communications for Carlsberg UK. She also held previous appointments at the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and RS Components following early career experience with retailers WHSmith and Alexon.

Chief Executive Steve Agg said: 'We are delighted that Donna has joined us - she comes with a blend of wide experience from manufacturers, retailers, distributors and, crucially, membership organisations, incorporating a thorough knowledge of operational processes together with working alongside volunteers. All of this will be invaluable to us here at CILT.'

Donna Cresswell said: 'I want the Institute to grab the imagination of young people coming into the industry, ensuring that CILT becomes a life-long partner. I believe that there are more essential services that we could offer in the future and I shall be testing out a few new ideas in early course.

'The logistics sector is an absolutely vital ingredient in the daily lives of the whole population and we need to ensure that CILT is as equally important to the logistics professionals responsible for its operation. I hope to be able to contribute to that process.'

Donna Cresswell will be based at CILT's offices in Corby, Northamptonshire.
