Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT call for entries Transport Journalist 2010

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) is calling for entries from journalists and broadcasters to its prestigious Logistics and Transport Journalist of the Year 2010 award, open to full time or freelance personnel working in print, online or broadcasting.

The award seeks to honour those contributing to the cause of intelligent reporting and debate in any sector of the transport and logistics industry. Entries are welcomed from specialist, business and professional magazines in or related to the sector, newsletters and websites, but also to the wider national and regional press and media reporting on transport and logistics issues.

Awards bring rewards! The short list and winner can look forward to a helpful notch on the cv, the admiration of colleagues and peers, a pat on the back from the boss or clients, and maybe even a useful aid in negotiating a pay rise or increased fees.

The process is simple - entrants should consider work undertaken during the twelve months to 28th May 2010, and then complete and return the attached form together with hard/emailed copies of the appropriate material. These could consist of news stories, features, investigative work or campaigns - entrants will know the significance of the work within its own sector or news/political environment and be able to explain its relevance for the benefit of the judges.

The CILT welcomes the opportunity to recognise the value and importance of the winners work whether within the industry itself, delivering news or views outside of the transport sector, or contributing to public awareness of the role and essential nature of transport to society, the economy and our way of life.

Editors, senior journalists or publishers may wish to nominate a colleague or employee who, in their view, is deserving of due recognition for high quality and exceptional work over the last year.

The winner will be invited to attend the CILT Annual Awards Dinner to be held on 7 October at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London for the award presentation.

The closing date for entries is 28 May 2010 and completed entry forms, together with material in the required format, should be sent to the Institute before then. Further details of the entry procedure or any other aspect of the award are available from Allison Glandfield on 01536 740125 or email allison.glandfield@ciltuk.org.uk.

CILT Chief Executive Steve Agg says 'This event presents an important opportunity to recognise the role and contribution of journalism to our vital industry and to honour the work of an individual who has made an outstanding contribution during the last twelve months. The list of former winners contains distinguished names from the national press and the specialist transport media. The Institute looks forward to adding to that list and to receiving your entries and nominations.'
