CHEP increases carrier acceptance rates by 10% by using LeanLogistics transportation technology

LeanLogistics, a global solutions provider of transportation management system (TMS) applications and supply chain services, recently completed a successful implementation of On-Demand TMS® for CHEP’s European operations to drive transportation savings that positively impacted CHEP’s profitability.

CHEP uses On-Demand TMS for centralization of logistics management, seamless integration with SAP, procurement and fleet management, as well as appointment and dock scheduling. The overall scope of LeanLogistics’ implementation covered 22 countries, more than 700 freight carriers, 1000 multilingual users as well as national and international freight flows for CHEP’s pallet and container operations serving the automotive, consumer goods and manufacturing industries.

Since implementation of On-Demand TMS, CHEP has been able to:
· Increase freight carrier acceptance rates by almost 10%
· Increase participation in spot market events from two to four offers per load
· Improve routing guide compliance by 20%
· Increase real-time information for on-time delivery rates by 40%

CHEP Vice President of Logistics for Europe, Enrique Garcia, said: "With On-Demand TMS, CHEP is benefitting from efficiency gains and transportation savings that are serving our entire organization. The visibility and collaborative environment of On-Demand TMS allow us to set sustainable business practices in place by measuring and reducing empty kilometres as well as reporting on carbon emissions."

As a result of the improved visibility it gains from LeanLogistics’ software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based TMS, CHEP is able to provide better metrics and analytics, utilize enhanced environmental impact reporting and increase on-time delivery rates. LeanLogistics’ transportation technology enables CHEP to scale for growth, reduce transportation spend, increase supply chain visibility and enhance service.

CHEP and LeanLogistics are part of Brambles Limited, a logistics services company specializing in the provision of and management of pooled pallets, crates and containers across a range of industries. The roll-out of LeanLogistics technology within CHEP’s European operations reflects Brambles’ commitment to improve efficiencies within its own business and those of its customers.
