CODECO facility live on CAPELLA -CFS/ICD/Container Depot Management System

CAPELLA- Kale’s CFS/ ICD/Container Depot management system used by several global Container Freight Stations and Inland Container Depots has now been enhanced to support messaging formats as per CODECO norms.

Kale’s CFS/ICD system -CAPELLA now supports CODECO message formats which are used between Shipping Lines and Container Depots to communicate electronically about the container status, thus replacing the traditional manual methodology.

CODECO message reports Container gate in and gate out movement at a CFS/ICD which is required by Shipping Lines to track their containers status electronically. Once the message file is generated through CAPELLA in CODECO format, it is sent to a secure FTP/SMTP folder at the recipient’s system. The CODECO message exchange has been currently enabled for CMA-CGM LTD, DELMAS, MSL, MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING CO, SHARAF SHIPPING AGENCY (T) LTD and HANJIN SHIPPING COMPANY LTD.

With this addition, the new CAPELLA offers its users much better tracking of shipment and vehicle/cargo visibility, enhanced irregularity monitoring, proactive system alerts, support for hand-held devices, technologically superior – web based application, easy maintainability and EDI support.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Vineet Malhotra, SVP, Kale Logistics Solutions said, "Keeping a global perspective, all our IT systems incorporate industry best practices and CAPELLA is no exception. It is a complete integrated and web-based application that can cater to end-to-end needs of a VFS/CFS/ICD/DEPOT/Terminal. With the added functionality for reporting messages in CODECO format, the duplication of manual work involved is reduced for both CFS/ICD and Liner/Liner agency ensuring greater accuracy in information transmission. There are no more delays in reporting of container status at the CFS."

CAPELLA solution reflects Kale’s Experience of understanding not only VFS/CFS/ICD business but also needs of the entire stakeholders in the supply chain such as Freight Forwarders, CHAs, Ports, and Shipping Lines amongst others, which make Kale uniquely positioned to deliver the best value to its customers.
