Continental Express Transport Ltd, the Waltham Cross-based temperature controlled distribution specialist, has taken delivery of 24 new Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated trailers. Continental Express has now ordered over 100 reefers from Schmitz Cargobull.
The new trailers are both dual and single compartment models and will be used by Continental Express to service existing clients and new accounts on routes throughout the UK and internationally as far as North Africa. The dual compartment trailers allow both frozen and ambient products to be transported in the same vehicle.
The deal was funded by Cargobull Finance – Schmitz Cargobull's own finance operation - and was made particularly cost efficient for Continental Express thanks to the high trade-in value of the company's old Schmitz Cargobull fleet.
"Because of the strength of the Schmitz Cargobull brand across Europe the company's products have a high resale value," explains David MacDonald, Schmitz Cargobull's Sales Director (South), who worked with Continental Express on the structure of the agreement.
"We are currently offering very competitive repurchase rates for used Schmitz Cargobull products and great deals on new replacements. This is an extremely good time for users considering upgrading their trailer fleets," he adds.
Continental Express's trailers were built at Schmitz Cargobull's manufacturing plant at Harelaw, County Durham using Schmitz Cargobull's pioneering and patented bolted and galvanized production technique. The bolting process removes the need for any welding and, therefore, results in consistently high product quality and greater production flexibility. The galvanizing operation, meanwhile, ensures that there is no corrosion within the joint when two parts of the trailer are brought together. Schmitz Cargobull offers a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty on the Galvanized chassis as standard.
The refrigerated trailer box units themselves are constructed using Schmitz Cargobull's Ferroplast modular steel-skinned panels to keep loads at the desired temperature. The easy to clean box unit makes the trailer particularly suited for the transport of foodstuffs.
Sammy Turone, Continental Express's operations director comments: "The Schmitz Carogbull product is very well engineered and the level of after sales care offered by the company has always been excellent – that's we have so many Schmitz Cargobull trailers in our fleet."
