Conveyor manufacturer Sovex expands into Europe

Conveyor manufacturer Sovex is expanding into Europe – with a new joint venture in Holland and exhibition space at a prestigious trade fair.

The Wirral-based company, which specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of conveyor systems, is branching out onto the continent as part of an ambitious growth plan to boost turnover by 50 per cent from £8m to £12m this year.

A six-strong team from Sovex will be showcasing the company at LogiMAT – the international trade fair for distribution, materials handling and information flow – in Stuttgart, Germany, from March 13 to 15.

The team, led by managing director David Lindfield, will be promoting the firm’s new joint venture – Sovex BV – which was set up to sell Sovex products across Europe from a distribution centre and showroom in Holland.

Mr Lindfield said: "We’re very excited about Sovex’s new venture into Europe which is a natural step for the business. Sovex BV is a fantastic start to this expansion and we’re going to be shouting about it at LogiMAT for the first time.

"We know that our engineering expertise and ‘can do’ attitude wins us new customers all the time in the UK and we expect it will be the same in France, Poland and Portugal once we’ve got Sovex’s name out there."

Sovex’s products are widely used within the parcel industry and it counts UK Mail, DHL and Yodel among its many blue chip clients. Other customers include retail giants such as Toys R Us.

Sovex’s conveyors have been developed to save companies time and money by enabling vehicles of all sizes – from Transit vans to articulated lorries – to be loaded and unloaded safely and quickly. Once unloaded Sovex offers full conveyor systems to assist with sorting and transporting the items.

Sovex currently employs 70 staff including electrical engineers, welders, fitters and fabricators at its headquarters in Prenton, Wirral.

The 34-strong team of service engineers based around the UK provide the Sovex Service Connect 24 hour rapid response service so that when a customer’s conveyor system breaks down they are on site to fix it within one to four hours.
