Cosmetics group Colomer selects Kuehne and Nagel as logistics partner for warehousing and distribution

Spanish cosmetics company The Colomer Group has assigned Kuehne + Nagel the

warehousing, picking & packing and distribution activities for its

hair care products Revlon Professional and American Crew.

Within the scope of the five-year contract, Kuehne + Nagel will

consolidate all logistics operations for Central Europe at its

distribution centre in Biebesheim near Darmstadt (Germany).

Kuehne + Nagel was awarded the contract due to its experience in

the storage, picking and distribution of cosmetics, which are typically

characterised by a wide product range and small packaging sizes. In

Biebesheim, Kuehne + Nagel operates a distribution centre that is

tailored to the requirements of the cosmetics industry.

Colomer's logistics operations in its current warehouses in Germany

and France will gradually be consolidated in Biebesheim, to be

completed by autumn 2011. From the new facility, which can

accommodate several thousand palettes and approximately 1,200

articles for Colomer, Kuehne + Nagel will supply professional hair

salons in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg and the

Netherlands with hair care products; distribution will then be

expanded to Switzerland at a later stage. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel

will provide picking & packing services via pick-by-voice technology.

"Kuehne + Nagel is experienced with the specific logistics needs of

the hair care and beauty industry, and by optimising our distribution

activities we will also be able to improve our customer service," said

Martin ter Veen, Director Customer Service & Logistics at Colomer.

"We are delighted to have been chosen by such a renowned

customer as Colomer," said Volker Sauerborn, Vice President

Sales & Business Development Contract Logistics Central Europe

at Kuehne + Nagel. "In addition, this poses a great opportunity for

us to further expand our industry-specific services for the cosmetics

sector at our facility in Biebesheim."
