Crown Paints implement Ultimate labelling system from Episys

Crown Paints, the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of paints, has implemented the Ultimate labelling system from Episys, the global information technology solutions and services company, to help it comply with local labelling regulations and grow its export business.

Crown Paints can now label to local languages and specifications on products for export that are pre-manufactured and pre-labelled.

David Flanagan, IT Developer, Crown Paints, said, "Paint tins and cans all have an individual barcode and labels displaying mandatory safety information for our internal market. Products for the export market previously relied on local labelling to meet EU specifications in the local language. We challenged Episys to come up with a solution to allow us to print country specific labels in the relevant languages to apply to the tins prior to export in order for us to meet our legal obligations."

Flanagan continued, "We developed a database that could link into our SAP system for product and country specific data required for the export market. The Ultimate solution from Episys gives us a quick and easy solution. Using the product barcode as an individual and unique reference number our warehouse teams are able to print the correct labels and apply them to the products before shipping to our agents for distribution. As well as complying with regulations, this is demonstrating our commitment to our customers by personalising the order for them."

Peter Lewis, Episys Marketing Director, said, "For companies looking to expand its markets and trade overseas, compliance is a crucial factor. Episys is going to be business critical to Crown Paints to ensure that it complies with regulations, and it’s great to see that the Ultimate solution is an enabler for growth for the company."
