David Miller was awarded the Logistics and Transport Journalist of the Year title at the 2012 Annual Awards for Excellence from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT). The awards were made at a gala dinner held at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London last night (18th October). This award category was sponsored by specialist recruitment professionals BiS Henderson Consulting.
David Miller was the winner from a wide range of high-level entries and a shortlist which also included Christian Wolmar and Paul Clifton.
The judges said that David Miller’s comprehensive programme for BBC Scotland on The Great Tram Disaster was an admirable piece of journalism, which told the story of the aspirations and travails of the ambitious, but failing, process of re-introducing a tram network in Edinburgh. David’s programme displayed deep research, clarity of presentation, impact and style, and would provide a valuable lesson for local authorities and contractors embarking on a similar major project.
The award was one of fifteen presentations made at the event.
The CILT Annual Awards for Excellence are designed to promote and encourage best practice within logistics and transport. The quality of entries was particularly high this year – reflecting a growing commitment to excellence and customer care in logistics and passenger transport.
