Toyota Material Handling is the world's number 1 supplier of forklifts and warehouse equipment with an unrivalled reputation for technical excellence and customer support. With its UK headquarters in Slough, Toyota Material Handling UK Ltd (TMHUK) was formed following the merger of BT Rolatruc and Toyota Industrial Equipment (UK) Ltd in 2007.
Initially appointed by BT Rolatruc to conduct a review of its UK distribution infrastructure and transport operations, following the merger, Davies & Robson's brief was extended to include the re-tendering of the transport contract to serve the enlarged organisation and to identify and achieve cost and service benefits.
Whilst the previous infrastructure and transport arrangements provided TMHUK's customers with adequate service levels, through the establishment of a central transportation hub and increasing the number of night trunks, Davies & Robson modelled a solution which actively supports the planned growth of TMHUK's business through the delivery of a high quality, cost effective, technically innovative and, above all, more responsive service to customers.
Allied to this process, Davies & Robson prepared and ran an ITT for the transport contract, ultimately leading to the appointment of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK.
Steve Hodkinson, Deputy Managing Director for TMHUK said: "With the growth planned for TMHUK it was vital to ensure we had a transport partner which understood our business and which could work with us to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction within a cost-effective solution. Davies & Robson's contribution throughout the whole process, from creation of the ITT to final selection of the logistics partner, was very professional and added value at each stage."
