Diverse exhibitors sign up for new shows

The organisers of two brand-new trade shows for the frozen and chilled foods industry are delighted with the wide range of companies that have signed up to exhibit.

The Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution Show and the Frozen & Chilled Foods Show, which will be co-located at Peterborough’s Exec exhibition centre on 14 and 15 September, will feature firms from right across the sector. Says Exhibition Director, Rob Fisher, "A broad range of exhibitors are already on board – from fork-lift companies, through transport refrigeration system manufacturers to cold chain 3PLs – and we’re on course to have sold 50% of stand space by the end of February, which is fantastic."

Industry backing
Almost 100 exhibitors are expected to participate in the new shows, promoting a range of innovative products and services that feature the latest technology for perishables. The co-located exhibitions are also supported by the Food Storage & Distribution Federation (FSDF), whose members will exhibit in a special ‘FSDF village’ within the shows. Chris Sturman, Chief Executive of the FSDF, explains, "This event, which focuses on the temperature-controlled sector of the food chain, brings together the service supply and manufacturing sectors in the food industry. Visitors from across the sector will have the opportunity to discover new ideas for environmentally friendly, energy-efficient equipment in this highly competitive market and to focus further on food quality and performance standards in the cold chain."

Launch timed right
Many of the ‘early bird’ exhibitors believe the timing of the shows’ launch is just right. "These exhibitions will fill a gap in the market," says Tess Morley, Business Development Manager for Chalcroft Construction, a company offering a complete construction service for clients including Brake Brothers, Coca-Cola, Nestle and Premier Foods. "With about 70% of our projects being for the food industry, the shows will provide the perfect platform to raise our brand awareness," she adds.

Paul Mead, Sales and Marketing Director for Montracon, one of Europe’s leading trailer manufacturers, agrees: "We welcome an exhibition that is clearly targeted at, and will attract key visitors from, the specialist temperature-controlled storage and distribution sector." Montracon will be promoting its extensive range of refrigerated trailers – including double deckers that can carry in excess of 40 pallets – as well as its transportable cold boxes and blast freezers.

Tony Wallis, Operations Director for materials handling supplier Toyota Material Handling UK Ltd, believes that the exhibitions will bring fresh opportunities: "These new shows are a welcome addition to the events calendar and allow us to talk to visitors about our extensive range of warehouse equipment suitable for this specialised industry and how it can help them to drive down costs. With space utilisation critical in temperature-controlled environments, we have a range of high-density storage solutions – including our new very narrow aisle trucks and our BT Radioshuttle system – that are designed to work in chilled environments and can also be engineered for frozen applications."

Industry dinner makes a welcome return
At the end of the first day of the show, exhibitors and visitors are invited to attend the TCS&D Dinner, which returns to the industry after a break of some 15 years. Says Richard Cogan, Director for the shows’ organisers, "We are delighted to be bringing back the TCS&D Dinner, which was a hugely popular event in the industry’s diary and we are confident that it will once again provide a superb opportunity for networking." For more details on attending the dinner, please telephone Richard Cogan on 01732 868 288.

Innovative solutions
A number of exhibitors will use the shows to launch new products or services. Articulated forklift supplier, Translift Bendi Ltd, will be promoting the Bendi Arctic, its first full cold store cab model. Comments Simon Brown, Managing Director, "We’re very much looking forward to introducing this new truck to the cold store market. With articulation reducing aisle widths from some 2.7m down to just 1.6m, the Bendi Arctic secures 30% more storage space than a reach truck – which is a ‘no-brainer’ in a temperature-controlled store."

Contract storage and distribution supplier, Chiltern Cold Storage, will be promoting a brand-new service at the show. Says Paul Jackson, the firm’s Managing Director, "The shows are timed just right for us to promote our new repacking service for frozen food, mainly from Asia, which will be tempered to chilled and repacked in a new facility within our cold stores in Peterborough."

Other exhibitors at the show are likely to include rigid and trailer bodybuilders; food container manufacturers; transport refrigeration manufacturers and distributors; vehicle panel manufacturers; suppliers of temperature monitoring and recording equipment; satellite tracking suppliers; cold store door specialists; suppliers of ancillary door furniture; cold store refrigeration plant manufacturers; cold store contractors and panel manufacturers; lift truck manufacturers; industrial and commercial floor- and wall-coating specialists; clothing and safety system suppliers; pallet converter manufacturers; insulated roll pallet system producers; cold store racking suppliers; vehicle rental and contract hire companies; loading bay solution providers; and providers of supply chain IT solutions.

Convenient and easily accessible
The show’s venue – within Peterborough’s East of England Showground – is centrally located and easy to travel to, being just a stone’s throw from the A1. The Exec centre is also just 15 minutes from Peterborough’s mainline railway station, with London’s King’s Cross just 45 minutes away by train. East Midlands, Birmingham, Luton and Stansted airports are each approximately an hour’s car journey away and the venue offers plenty of free parking.

Cost-effective exhibiting
With stands available in a range of sizes from 9m2 to 64m2, there are promotional opportunities to suit all budgets.
