DIXONS CARPHONE PLACES MAJOR ORDERS WITH THE CARTWRIGHT GROUP

Dixons Carphone, Europe’s leading specialist electrical and telecommunications retailer and services company, has recently ordered 40 box vans and 30 curtainsiders from the Cartwright Group.

The box vans are all straight frame tandem trailers with a Palfinger retractable tailift. The curtainsiders also come with a tailift. The box van trailers will be operated by Dixons Carphone’s third-party logistics provider DHL, through the nationwide network of Dixons Carphone distribution centres and branches, which includes 350 Currys/PC World stores and 750 Carphone Warehouse locations, as well as the ‘Knowhow’ services arm of the company.

The box vans will be carrying branch replenishments of the organisation’s ‘big box’ products such as washing machines, fridges, TV’s, cookers. The curtainsiders are multi-purpose trailers for use across the whole of the business including branches and trunking into customer service centres. The curtainsiders will also be used for picking up the company’s waste electrical items.

Dixons Carphone has previously ordered trailers from Cartwright and decided to return as a customer explained Robert Redmile, Head of Customer Planning.

“The price was competitive, and we felt that Cartwright has made major steps forward as a company in the last few years. It is making real progress as a quality, customer focused business.

“Cartwright has built the curtainsiders to our specification. The whole purpose of the curtainsiders with tailift is to try to build some flexibility into our trailer fleet.

“We wanted a trailer to serve both parts of the business.

He added: “We are very happy with the whole process.”
