Domino’s Pizza Group plc adds Burnt Tree’s Refrigerental® to the menu

When Domino’s Pizza was expecting its traditional post-Christmas spike in demand, the national pizza manufacturer turned to Burnt Tree for the first time, taking additional 26tonne dual temperature refrigerated trucks on rental from the company’s new Refrigerental division.

According to John Lee, Group Transport Manager at Domino’s Pizza, "When we heard that Burnt Tree had launched a new refrigerated vehicle rental business last year, we were keen to work with them during this period of increased volumes, as they were able to supply us with trucks that are particularly suited our intensive nationwide distribution operation."

The Refrigerental trucks currently on rental to Domino’s are all 26tonne DAF CF75.310 6×2 rigids, fitted with dual compartment refrigerated bodies built to ATP Class C Standard and featuring Carrier Supra Silent 1150MT multi-temperature refrigeration systems. Ideal for noise sensitive urban deliveries, each truck also has a near side pallet width side door, as well as double rear doors and a1500kg retractable tail lift.

"This is the first time that we have used Burnt Tree’s Refrigerental operation and the service we have received so far has been first class. As the year develops, we will be looking to further extend this working relationship with Refrigerental as we see them as a positive addition to our vehicle supplier programme," commented John Lee.

Domino’s currently runs a 100% refrigerated 60-strong distribution fleet, operating a highly intensive delivery programme in the UK, with each store getting three deliveries a week. The 26tonne DAF rigids supplied by Refrigerental are delivering Domino’s own in-house dough for the pizza bases, as well as stocks of toppings and all retail packaging to each individual franchise store. The vehicles are currently based at the company’s main production facility at Milton Keynes.

"When we first launched Refrigerental towards the end of 2013, there was tremendous initial interest in this move into temperature controlled vehicle rental by Burnt Tree. This interest has subsequently been converted into considerable new business, as we have been successful in developing many new working partnerships. It’s pleasing to see major brands, such as Domino’s, responding so positively to our fresh approach to temperature controlled vehicle rental," said Mark Howell, Contract Hire and Refrigerental Director at Burnt Tree.
