Following B&C Engineering Ltd’s recent appointment as the main dealer for commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu Truck UK on the Isle of Man, two Manx companies have chosen to specify Isuzu for the first time when purchasing their latest new trucks.
A1 Cabin & Toilet Hire at Glen Vine near Douglas and SCE Ltd in Port Erin both acknowledge that their choice of Isuzu for their new vehicles was strongly influenced by the fact that Isuzu has a Manx based full sales, service and parts dealership on the island.
According to Ian Henderson from A1 Cabin & Toilet Hire, "This is the first time that we’ve bought a new truck, normally we would buy second hand, and it’s also the first time we’ve specified an Isuzu. The two main deciding factors were the three-year standard unlimited mileage warranty that you get with all new Isuzu trucks and the fact that they there is a local main dealer on the island."
A1 Cabin and Toilet Hire purchased a new Isuzu 62.150 6.2t rigid truck and this is being used to deliver mobile toilets to various sites on the Isle of Man. It has been fitted with a 14 ft Alloy Bodies dropside body with a 500kg capacity taillift to facilitate the loading and unloading of the toilets. The vehicle can deliver up to 2 mobile toilets at once but also has a pump and effluent tank fitted to the deck of the body for the pumped removal of effluent from mobile toilets out on location.
The new Isuzu covers approximately 1000 miles per month and Ian Henderson anticipates keeping the vehicle for a five-year working life.
Steve Craine from Plant Hire and Groundworks company SCE Ltd, in Port Erin, echoes the comments about Isuzu saying, "We too have bought Isuzu for the first time and not only is it a high specification vehicle but the fact it has a local Manx dealer offering full service and parts support over vehicle life gives me complete peace of mind."
In their case, SCE Ltd purchased an Isuzu N75.190 Forward 7.5t chassis cab fitted with a Brittip steel tipper body with under floor operating gear. The vehicle is being used to transport mini diggers to construction sites around the island as well as removing rubble and debris off-site. This vehicle will also have a five-year working life within the 6-strong vehicle fleet at SCE Ltd.
Commenting on the deals, Jon Bennett from Isuzu Truck’s Manx dealer B& C Engineering in Ballasalla said, "When we were first appointed by Isuzu Truck UK we were confident that there was a strong market potential for the Isuzu products on the Isle of Man. Now that we have demonstration vehicles and chassis/cabs in stock, we have been able to highlight the strength of the product range to potential new customers as well as reassuring them about the comprehensive locally based dealer support that we offer."
