The UK's favourite parcel delivery company DPD has scooped two honours at the MetaPack Delivery Excellence Awards 2016.

MetaPack is the UK's leading delivery management company and The Delivery Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate innovation and outstanding performance of retailers and carriers globally.

DPD won the award for Best Contribution to Delivery Innovation ahead of DHL, Doddle, Nightline and On the dot and Best Provider of Outstanding Service beating Hermes, Parcelforce Worldwide, Royal Mail and Yodel.

It is the second year running that DPD has scooped MetaPack's Outstanding Service award.

DPD's CEO Dwain McDonald commented: "These awards mean a lot to us because the winners are voted for by the very retailers who pay our wages. To win two awards is an outstanding achievement and reflects the expertise and enthusiasm of all our people across the DPD business. It is also significant for me as our investment in innovation and customer service are the two things we've focused on relentlessly to differentiate DPD and create a truly world class delivery experience. To see that recognised by our retail partners means the world to me."

The MetaPack awards are the latest in an incredible 12 months for the company. In April, DPD was honoured with a prestigious Queen's Award for Innovation; which was followed by the ‘Special Award' from consumer champion magazine ‘Which?' for consistently high customer satisfaction scores. DPD then made history by becoming the first company to win five Motor Transport awards in a single year. The company ended 2015 by topping both Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert and the Which? customer satisfaction polls for delivery companies, for the third year running.

Last month, it was confirmed that DPD had made the Sunday Times ‘Best Big Companies to Work For' list for the first time. The company will feature in the top 25 when the full list is revealed at the Best Companies awards celebration in London on Thursday 25th February.

DPD's success is due largely to its unique Predict service which notifies parcel recipients of their one-hour delivery timeslot, in advance, by email or text and gives them access to a range of ‘in-flight options' such as deliver to a specific neighbour, leave in a specified safe place or divert delivery to the nearest DPD Pickup parcel shop. Predict enables recipients to manage their own delivery via their smartphone or PC and to communicate with their driver in real-time to ensure that millions more parcels are delivered, right, first-time.
