Drive down costs with Toyota's Training Simulator

For the first time in the UK, Toyota will be presenting their unique operator training forklift simulator to show visitors at IMHX 2013 how they can drive down damage costs.

Toyota Material Handling has developed the World's first forklift simulator in order to identify poor habits and improve driving techniques without moving a wheel. The simulator offers a great opportunity to increase awareness of operator driving and identify areas for improvement, in order to improve safety and drive down the costs of damage.

The purpose of this simulator is to significantly raise awareness of the risks involved in the complex process of materials handling and the cost of getting it wrong. The simulator uses three display screens to allow users to see forward, side and rear views. Operators are timed to see how long it takes them to accomplish various tasks which include; vehicle loading /unloading and travelling up and down ramps. During the simulation operators will need to be observant and take the correct actions as they follow the course, for example; at blind corners they will need to look for other site traffic and observe pedestrian walkways.

Visitors to IMHX will get the chance to trial the simulator and be assessed

on their driving skill. Visitors will need to check availability and

register on the main Toyota stand (20F70).

Tony Dyer, Toyota Training Academy Manager comments "A cliché but as true

today as ever - People are the most important asset in any business, although they are also one of the greatest costs. At Toyota we encourage customers to focus on operational costs and damage to goods. Helping raise awareness of good operator driving techniques will underline everything the Toyota brand stands for in terms of safety in the workplace".

The Toyota Training Academy team will also be on-hand to guide visitors through the simulator and provide specialist advice about the financial and safety benefits of good operator training including Toyota's advanced Training+ programme, that shows operators how to get the best out of their equipment and work more productively.

Dyer adds "We have found that operator error remains the biggest influence

on injury statistics and damage costs. Businesses, who embrace good operator

practice, endorsed by good supervision and appropriate training, repeatedly

see increased productivity, improved safety and reduced damage costs and we

want to talk to visitors at IMHX about this key area."

Visitors to Toyota's stand (20F70) can also see the skill and driving precision shown by the Toyota Operator trainers in the Toyota live demonstration areas.
