DS Smith Recycling rebrand manager scoops prestigious 'new marketer' award

DS Smith Recycling marketing manager, Jade Bourke, has been awarded the prestigious 'New Marketer of the Year' award at this year's Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards, run by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Welsh Division. Jade was selected for her outstanding passion for marketing - from embracing new developments in the industry such as digital media, through to her key involvement in a full company rebrand.

Jade said: "I've been lucky enough to have gained knowledge from some great experiences in my career so far and the rebrand from Severnside to DS Smith Recycling was the perfect opportunity to put this all to the ultimate test. A full overhaul of all branded collateral and communications across 16 sites and a culture change to sit with the wider DS Smith Group was no easy task, and I'm delighted that the results of this have been recognised by the Canmol awards."

Jade Bourke joined the recycling and waste management company as a marketing assistant in 2009, after gaining experience in the sales and account management sector. She was quickly promoted to marketing manager after two and a half years and is now responsible for implementing the company's marketing strategy. Over the last nine months, Jade has driven the rebrand to DS Smith Recycling through internal communications and by ensuring this is rolled out across internal and external marketing materials.

The Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards event was launched by The Chartered Institute of Marketing in July 2008 to celebrate marketing excellence across SMEs through to multinational companies based in Wales. The DS Smith Recycling marketing team was also a finalist at the awards, and other winners included Merthyr-based Royvon Dog Boarding Kennels, BBC Cymru Wales, Cardiff-based AutosOnShow.TV, Bridgend-based Staedtler UK and Visit Wales. Newport University's Sue Cole was also honoured with the CIM Wales Business Insider Outstanding Contribution Award.
