Enhanced routing & scheduling solutions from Paragon

Continued investment in research and development has enabled Paragon Software Systems to introduce a wide range of new and innovative software enhancements in 2005. From improved optimization tools that are helping companies cut costs further, through to innovative work balancing parameters and new deployment options that offer more flexibility to clients, the Paragon team remains committed to ensuring that its software products continue to evolve in order to create additional value for users.

As part of the company's commitment to provide routing and scheduling solutions that meet real transport needs, Paragon Software Systems dedicates more than a third of its annual turnover to developing and enhancing its software offerings. As a result clients are now able to cut costs further – a result of an enhanced optimization feature that has been added to the Paragon scheduling algorithm. Comparisons carried out using the enhanced software have shown that, on average, a further cut of around 2% in time and mileage can be achieved – in addition to the savings already generated by the current system.

Paragon users are also benefiting from new parameters that have been introduced to help transport managers spread the work evenly across the required vehicle fleet, as well as maintaining overall transport efficiency. The specific type of balancing can be controlled based on a number of options that include: number of drops; number of calls; duty time; driving time; and distance. In addition new deployment options have also been introduced in the form of thin client and Citrix configurations, offering clients more deployment flexibility, including access via a web browser.

"2005 saw us introduce a number of new software features and enhancements and there's more to come in 2006," comments William Salter, Paragon's Managing Director. "Next year we envisage seeing a significant shift towards integrating routing and scheduling software with other elements of the transport management process. New software will be launched early in 2006 which will help our clients integrate the planning and execution phases of their transport operations more tightly. This will make it easier for transport managers to ensure that efficiencies gained at the planning stage really are followed through in practice."
