Expansion to the UK: TGW Limited is open for business

The UK and Ireland market for automation and mechanisation in

intra-logistics is looking very encouraging for TGW Limited, which has expanded its staff resource to handle the growing number of orders.

With the growth in distribution centres spreading around what is the second largest logistics sector in Europe, the UK and Ireland is clearly an important market for the TGW Logistics Group as many of these facilities require advanced intra-logistics solutions.

News about the opening of TGW Limited in the UK in January 2007 spread rapidly around the industry and the office at Market Harborough in the East Midlands immediately began working on projects. TGW Logistics Group decided on this location for its UK and Ireland subsidiary because along with having an established materials handling tradition it is centrally located with good road, rail and air transport links.

Having the right team is crucial to the success of any project and TGW Limited has recently expanded its team to include even more industry experience to handle the growing number of orders. The team is led by Andy Smith, Managing Director of TGW Limited, a specialist in automation and mechanisation solutions. Philip Steeds is the Sales Director, and is responsible for the sales and marketing activity within the territory. Ian Powell is the Operations Director and responsible for the engineering and project implementation parts of the business. Neil Dolby, a very experienced industry specialist, is Head of Project Management & Implementation. Joel Garbutt, who is an experienced internal logistics and materials handling specialist, is Project Sales Manager. Service and Support Engineering is headed by Paul Gregory. Damien Skinner provides engineering support, which includes data analysis, solution design and application. He is supported by Stephen Jagric. Finally, Jane Dowsett provides administrative support for the team and the customers. TGW Limited has an additional account management resource based in Austria in Gunter Szolga. Gunter reports to the UK and has a dedicated design & engineering resource based in Austria - Stefan Eibel.

Philip Steeds talks enthusiastically about the team: "The UK market is looking very encouraging, as prospective clients seem eager to talk with us directly! Our team has a very broad range of skills from direct sales and account management through solution design and consultancy to project implementation with a combined total of around 100 years of industry specific experience."

Commenting on TGW Limited's targets, Georg Kirchmayr, TGW President, says: "The UK & Ireland team will build on the partner network with system integrators on the one hand and their local presence and professional project support will really boost our direct business on the other."

In the last nine months TGW Limited has quickly delivered, completing five projects that between them incorporate the gamut of TGW's portfolio of capabilities from pallet conveying to order picking systems in the wholesale distribution, retail and e-tail, manufacturing and publishing industries. For TGW Limited, like the whole TGW Logistics Group, customer success and productivity is the top priority.
