A flagship dual purpose Hub and Depot opened in Heathrow by City Link, the UK’s leading premium express delivery company, just over a year ago has delivered its millionth consignment.
The prestigious 77,000 sq ft facility, on the Prologis Park in Stockley Road, West Drayton is the largest UK Depot within the City Link network.
Since its opening, in September 2009, its workforce has almost doubled to over 100 and every day handles over 15,000 parcels.
Doug Grout, General Manager at Heathrow, said last year’s move into the new Depot had been essential as City Link had outgrown its former 60,000 sq ft Depot in nearby Heston.
Mr Grout said the relocation allowed City Link to expand its operations locally and to continue to improve and enhance its value added services for existing and future customers.
He said: "Re-locating into this new facility has proven a fantastic move. It is the biggest delivery Depot in the UK and since our opening in June we have continued to grow. The move has prompted renewed enthusiasm among existing colleagues who want to see the Depot succeed and of course this positive effect is rubbing off on new colleagues joining the company who have been recruited into a vibrant atmosphere.
"It’s a win-win situation. When we first moved in here we had anticipated reaching the millionth consignment mark by Christmas. To reach it just over two months beforehand is a fantastic result but of course wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our Colleagues or the loyalty of our Customers."
