Facing up to home delivery challenges with DSV Solutions

With so many home furnishing items sold online these days, the face of the retailer is increasingly represented by the delivery company, according to a new white paper from DSV Solutions.

So choosing the right logistics company to make the delivery - especially a two-man, white glove home delivery - can make or break the retailer's brand image.

Visitors to Multimodal, the UK's largest supply chain exhibition, at the NEC, Birmingham (29 April -1 May 2014), can pick up the free white paper on this topic from the DSV stand.

"If people do not go into shops and talk to the salespeople or even a cashier, then the only representative of the retailer they see is the person arriving at their door with a delivery," explains Patrick Turner, Head of Business Development at DSV Solutions.

So it is crucial that retailers ensure they select a delivery company which reflects their company values and ethos.

"This is especially true for the delivery of larger items, such as furniture, where the delivery person or team needs to enter the house to take the item to the selected room," says Turner. This delivery process may also include removal of packaging and of the old item.

DSV has designated Thursday 1 May as its 'Experts Day' and other markets that will have specific DSV logistics experts there include aerospace, perishables, automotive and express, although the white paper will be available every day on the stand.
