Ferrymasters logistics and supply chain to transport Samsung products in central Europe

Supply chain solutions specialist P&O Ferrymasters has underlined its growth strategy in central Europe with an agreement to carry washing machines and refrigerators from Samsung's factory in Wronki, Poland, to key destinations in western Europe.

The contract for road transport to France, Italy, Spain and the UK involves multiple daily full trailer loads and is expected to be worth more than €1 million. Operations are being co-ordinated from the company's Polish office in Katowice, which has recruited an implant staff member to be based at Wronki.

"This is an important win for us with a very high profile customer in the largest of the new European Union member states," says P&O Ferrymasters commercial director Phillip Jones.

"We have been developing an impressive footprint to and from the fast-growing markets of central and eastern Europe. The Samsung contract confirms our ability to provide customised, high performance solutions in an ultra-competitive arena."

The companies were introduced after P&O Ferrymasters was accepted as a partner in the Logistics World Alliance (LWA) earlier this year. Established in 2006, the alliance of leading contract logistics companies offers outsourced added value solutions through a single, central contact point.

The LWA is represented in more than 300 of Europe's main logistics centres. Other partners include Aditro Logistics, Bibby Distribution, Geis Group, Log Service Europe, MGF Logistique and Redur.

P&O Ferrymasters is one of Europe's leading logistics providers, offering tailor-made transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions. P&O Ferrymasters is part of P&O Ferries, which is owned by Dubai World. The company employs 600 people at 27 strategic locations across 13 European countries.
