FIRST RENAULT TRUCKS FOR COMLEY DEMOLITION

For the first time in its 60 year history, Comley Demolition, one of the leading demolition contractors in the South, has chosen Renault Trucks for the most recent additions to its fleet.

The two 32 tonne Range C440 8x4s with optional steel bumper for excellent ground clearance are fitted with Boughton Engineering Hookloader lifting gear and are now in service moving construction and demolition materials for the family-run business.

Noting the Range C’s durability and a customer centric-package from local dealer Renault Trucks South, Managing Director Toby Comley says: “Rob Coxon at Renault Trucks South has a strong customer focus and was meticulous in getting under the skin of our business to understand what we needed. He put together a great deal so we were confident we were getting robust, well built and reliable trucks with a comprehensive maintenance and inspection package, primed to deliver maximum vehicle uptime.”

Specified to ADR Cat 9 and FORS compliant with 4 camera DVR, turn left warning, strobe lights, beacon bar and BBS reverse alarm, the C440s come with Renault Trucks’ DTI 13 litre, 6 cylinder engine, delivering a maximum torque of 2200Nm from 900rpm -1404 rpm.

The Range C’s high ground clearance was a standout feature for Comley Demolition, providing exceptional mobility and access to all types of terrain. Toby Comley continues: “Our trucks get a hard life but we are confident the C440 is up to the job. It’s robust and has a higher ride height avoiding damage on our most challenging assignments. Also the automated gearbox with off-road mode as standard is perfect for our most testing operations.”

To maximise driver acceptance, the new Range Cs are specified with comfort in mind including 4-point cab air suspension, one touch electric windows, electronically regulated air conditioning and ultimate leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control. The trucks have also been designed to make the driver’s life easier with the driving position accessed by four steps, with the first one flexible to reduce damage and step lighting to ensure safety on the job.

“Introducing a new brand into the fleet, especially one we haven’t used before, can be challenging but the drivers have given the Range Cs a big thumbs up so far and have encountered no problems with them; the day cabs are comfortable and fuel economy is good too. We are all delighted with the new trucks,” adds Comley.

The C440s are being employed within a 100 mile radius of Comley Demolition’s base near Basingstoke, working across to Bristol, Kent, South Coast, Essex and London.
