The Fork Lift Truck Association FLTA has revealed the materials handling industry’s Pick of the Year: a line-up of forward-thinking products and services that are set to help British industry work smarter, leaner and greener in 2018.

Faced with a record number of entries, from companies across the globe, the FLTA’s Nominations Committee narrowed down the pool to just 22 products and services.

Fifteen different companies are celebrating, having earned their spot in this definitive buyer’s guide to all that’s best in the fork lift truck sector.

According to Peter Harvey MBE, Chief Executive of the FLTA: “The Awards is now in its 24th year and each year we see the number of entries continue to grow.

“The first hurdle for these entrants was to persuade our panel of technical experts that their entry deserves to become a Finalist.

“This committee comprises some of the most experienced and astute individuals within the fork lift truck sector. Each is fiercely independent and brings a deep and practical understanding of engineering and workplace environment. to this critical selection process.

“That’s why our Pick of the Year is always so diverse. And this year is certainly no exception. There’s everything from game-changing recycling methods that will reduce emissions and the costs associated with battery power to safety systems that prevent collisions between trucks and pedestrians… as well as truck and trucks!

“It’s a diverse selection but the one thing they have in common is a commitment to developing innovative solutions to day-to-day problems. Their ingenious ideas will significantly contribute to the wealth, health and welfare of the millions who work on and near fork lift trucks every day.

“While many of the companies featuring on this year’s shortlist are ‘household’ names, we’re also pleased to shine the spotlight on some smaller, highly enterprising businesses – newcomers who look set for success in a very competitive marketplace.”

Winners will be decided by a jury of materials handling experts. This group of 12 has been drawn from across the sector – including end users.

Mr Harvey continues: “Our jury is composed of experienced and knowledgeable professionals from all aspects of the industry. Importantly, they have current and relevant sales and technical know-how – enabling them to recognise excellence and originality.

Winners will be revealed on Saturday 24th February at the impressive International Centre Telford in a black-tie BAFTA-style ceremony.
