A recurring theme at this year's Pro2Pac - the UK's only biennial food and drinks processing and packaging exhibition - was the demand for reusable packaging systems.
Russell Smith, Business Development Manager for Goplasticboxes.com, said: "A significant number of customers visiting our stand were interested in long-lasting and reusable packaging solutions, as an alternative to their existing cardboard containers or wooden pallets.
"Our GoBox 4900 food container was particularly popular, generating enquiries for over 40,000 units from customers in the fish and poultry industries. Its perforated design and dual working height is well suited to transporting and storing all types of meat products. The container stacks one way and nests the opposite way, so offers customers a great space-saving solution for return transit journeys.
"We also received some interesting enquiries for our plastic pool pallets and hygienic pallets, including a large food company requiring 200 hygienic pallets for various ingredients.
"It was clear from the exhibition that customers in the food and drinks industries consider hygiene an important criteria when sourcing packaging products. Putting hygiene first and using hygienic packaging, like plastic pallets and containers, is something we will continue to advocate as a company to our customer base."
