B&B Attachments Ltd, located in Cramlington, Northumberland, is the leading independent supplier of forklift truck attachments in the UK. One of the company's key roles, Technical Manager, has been vacant for nearly a year, after the sad loss of George Williams. Recently, B&B have employed Mark Collett to fulfil this highly demanding position.
The company specialises in the sale, service and hire of forklift truck attachments, both nationwide and internationally. It also has its own in-house design team, who create bespoke products for customers. Alongside the provision of attachments, B&B has an After Sales team, who arrange the regular servicing and repairs of attachments once they are with the customer; the Technical Manager role is crucial to the provision of this.
In his new position, Mark has the opportunity to deal with customers every day, answering any technical queries he may be approached with. He must know the exact mechanics of how products work, in order to provide the solutions, as well as detailed application knowledge. He is field-based, and Mark is able to visit sites throughout the country to make personal inspections to give the most accurate response.
Managing Director of B&B Mike Barton, who worked in the forklift truck attachment industry for 47 years, enthuses about the appointment of Mark:
"Within the company, the role of Technical Manager is essential in allowing us to provide specialist support as part of our stringent aftercare policy. We were determined to get the right person for the job, and I am confident we've found it in Mark Collett. He's worked in the materials handling industry for over 20 years, and he brings with him a great deal of product knowledge, and familiarisation with the organisations B&B work with every day. This will be a great advantage both to our customers, and to us, as a resource."
Mark Collett is determined to provide an exceptional level of customer service. He joins B&B from Linde Heavy Truck Division, where he also served in a technical position for their lift trucks, and he has also worked for other industry names, such as Barloworld and Toyota. He began his career with a four year apprenticeship with City Guilds, working in auto, mechanical and electrical engineering; providing him with solid foundations for the career that has followed.
Mark Collett looks forward to the opportunities his new role will bring:
"Through my many years in the industry, I have dealt with forklift attachments every day, but I'll be interested in gaining an even greater knowledge of the products that B&B provides. It'll also be exciting to get to grips with some of the products they've created themselves.
"I'm delighted to be working for B&B Attachments, and I'm ready to tackle the challenges that the role of Technical Manager will bring. I'm looking forward to meeting all of B&B's customers, and I hope to travel and introduce myself to our contacts as soon as I can."
