Forklift truck attachment company increases a customer’s efficiency through the provision of an innovative product

B&B Attachments Ltd is a nationwide forklift truck attachment company, based in Cramlington, Northumberland. The company caters to customers’ needs by supplying products that tackle specific handling issues. Marshalls’ West Lane site experienced this service first-hand over a decade ago when they were supplied with an attachment for handling palletised and palletless goods with equal effect. This was furthered recently, when the same product was reordered for the full forklift fleet, re-affirming a working relationship that has spanned over a decade.

Since its establishment in 1980 in the North East, B&B Attachments has grown into a nationally, and internationally, operating outfit. Alongside the sale and hire of attachments from high-profile, worldwide manufacturers, the company also design and develop bespoke attachments in-house, created to specifically meet their customers’ needs. With every attachment, service contracts are also offered, which monitor the regular maintenance and repair of each product.

Marshalls services the construction, home improvement and landscape markets, providing stone and concrete landscaping products. The organisation began in the 1880s, and now has regional service centres and national manufacturing and distribution sites; providing employment for around 2000 individuals. Marshalls’ site at West Lane, Halifax, is one of the many that have used B&B’s knowledge of attachments to service their handling issues.

Sales Director at B&B, Neal Fowler works closely with the team at Marshalls West Lane. He explains the details of their requirements.

"I first met with the guys at Marshalls West Lane over 12 years ago, where I had to assess what their needs were, in order to find the best forklift attachment for them. The company sends out a range of different orders to customers, some which are set up on pallets, and some that aren’t. They wanted to be able to make sure that the orders were processed efficiently, so after some consideration of the products, I suggested the Kaup 2T412UVP Fork Clamp with slip on arms."

Known for its versatility, the Kaup 2T412UVP Fork Clamp was designed primarily for the construction industry. The product can grip block and brick stacks, moving heavy loads without causing any damage to the goods. These block arms then slip off, to reveal the product’s alternative use as standard forks, handling palletised products.

Mick Cragg, Yard Manager at Marshalls West Lane, discusses the product.

"My role within Marshalls is to ensure that the equipment selected for the yard enables the team to work in the most efficient way possible. We can handle 30-40 different varieties of orders, and need to get them processed quickly, to be as accommodating as we can for our customers. By using the 2T412UVP Fork Clamp, one forklift can do all the work- we don’t need separate trucks for palletless and palletised handling. This is a big time saver, and raises the levels of customer satisfaction as they get their goods quickly.

"The products I’ve received from B&B are reliable, which is why I was more than happy to renew our purchases with them across the whole fleet. Anything I’ve asked for has been delivered on time, and if anything needs sorting out, Neal makes sure it is done immediately and to my satisfaction- something that’s very important to me."

Neal concludes:
"I’m thrilled that this product has been such as success for Marshalls’ West Lane site, and that our working relationship still sustains after all of this time. I look forward to us working together in the future on new, upcoming projects."
