In his new role Marcus will work closely with the company's three Regional Commercial Managers who are responsible for overseeing volume growth within the pallet operations of each of the network's 68 licensees.
He will also work closely with Fortec Managing Director Neil Hodgson in steering the network through the next phase of its business plan.
The appointment comes 10 years after Marcus first joined Fortec. Previously he had been the company's Financial Director, although he will still take responsibility for finance matters at board level.
Marcus, aged 47, said he was delighted to be taking up his new appointment stating that his first task has been the appointment of Sophie Parker who will take up a newly created position of Brand Manager. He said that more detail of this important role will be communicated soon adding that Sophie will be targeted with management and development of all components of the Fortec brand including marketing, media relations and communication.
He said: "We are embarking upon a number of planned strategies to identify and pursue new opportunities for corporate business development.
"We will of course continue to work with our members to further improve their efficiency and profitability through highly focused revenue generation."
Neil Hodgson, Managing Director of the Fortec Distribution Network, congratulated Marcus on his appointment.
He said: "In his 10 years with Fortec Marcus has consistently proven to be an invaluable asset - both within Fortec and in his dealings with each and every licensee.
"With an extensive background in finance even prior to joining Fortec he brings a wealth of experience to the role of Commercial Director.
"I wish Marcus every success and of course continue to offer him my full support in his new role."
