Fortec pallet distribution network announces record year in 2006

Rugby-based Fortec Pallet Distribution Network has announced a record performance for the company in 2006 with turnover and volumes at an all-time high.

Annual financial turnover of the company peaked at £5 million and traffic volumes grew over 15% leading to an additional 65,000 pallets handled by the network compared to the previous year. The rapidly expanding pallet network, part of the French-owned Geodis conglomerate which employs over 25,000 employees worldwide, now number over 60 licensees in its established network, compared to 28 just five years ago.

Fortec’s result in 2006 is the fifth year in succession that the company has achieved record turnover and volumes and was also a year of significant investment in IT, the hub infrastructure and in strengthening the management team.

This latest chapter in the Fortec success story shows no sign of stopping, particularly as the organisation is shortly to announce a further £5 million investment programme for 2007.

Managing Director Rod Abrahams explained: “After five years of success, during which the company has literally doubled in size, we are now planning the next chapter.

“In many respects it will be a quantum leap for the organisation as the investment will involve new facilities, IT and operational systems and new products.

“We will be announcing the first phase in our investment programme in early March. It will allow us to substantially increase our volumes and to take the network forward to the next stage.”
