Employing more than 1,500 people, Fowler Welch is the UK’s leading choice in cost-effective, innovative and effective supply chain solutions for ambient and temperature controlled produce. The ATP rated 13.6 metre straight frame tri-axle, semi-trailers have 26 pallet specification with a heavy duty (ISO 10496 tested) Chequer plate aluminium floor overlay. The refrigerated trailers have a lighter weight advantage with Cartwright engineers reducing weight by ~700kg over standard UK fridge trailers.
Other specification features on the trailers include the fact that the panels were manufactured in house by Cartwright’s panel press facility.
Fowler Welch has specified Carrier Transicold thanks to a combination of the powerful Vector® 1950 multi-temperature (MT) unit, the newly upgraded fleet management system, Foretrack, and the company’s comprehensive aftersales package, everCOLD.
The Vector 1950 MT is Carrier Transicold’s most powerful refrigeration system, creating stable cooling across larger trailer volumes, with high airflow levels, unparalleled pull-down speeds and the ability to maintain precise temperature control throughout each trailer compartment.
It also boasts impressive environmental credentials, with the patented E-Drive™ all-electric technology helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by lowering refrigerant leak rates by as much as 55 per cent over conventional belt-driven systems.
Carrier Transicold’s newly upgraded tracking, telematics and fleet management system, Foretrack, now includes two-way communication and a new mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. The everCOLD full-service, repair and maintenance package provides Fowler Welch with annual temperature control testing and certification, full regulatory checks, and access to Carrier Transicold’s oneCALL 24/7 incident management service.
Paul Allera, Head of Fleet at Fowler Welch quoted “Following the successful integration of the New APD Fridge trailers in 2016 into our operation, Cartwright agreed to build a seed trailer for us to try. The trailer performed well and we gained good feedback from both drivers and warehouse operatives. It was following this successful trial we decided to place an order for the 10 trailers. These trailers will run along side of others in the fleet and their performance will be closely monitored by the Team.”
