Allport, the UK's leading freight forwarder has chosen vehicle tracking, telematics and integration specialist Isotrak's Active Transport Management System (ATMS) for its Specialist Services division. The deal will see functionalities such as Tracking, Telematics and Driving Style implemented into the fleet.
Allport Specialist Services are a division of the UK's largest independent freight forwarder, providing contract logistics, technical distribution, installation services and engineering and workshop services. The division is more than just a logistics operation, delivering and installing cash machines amongst other technical equipment and providing project management and site survey services, offering an end-to-end solution for its customers. Although consisting of heavy good vehicles, the Specialist Services fleet has similar needs to a field service fleet making Isotrak's win over its competitors more poignant.
Les Freer, Operations Director at Allport commented: "Our clients entrust us with the collection, transhipment, delivery and installations of their goods which in most cases can be very technically challenging and complex. Having real time visibility across our fleet vehicles means we are better placed to consistently protect our employees and our client's assets.
Businesses are judged by the quality of customer service that they provide. The Isotrak ATMS has enabled us to improve our customer service response times across the board. Our service agents now have complete visibility of the fleet's real time locations which means that we are always ahead of the game in terms of identifying potential issues which may affect our planned scheduling."
On deciding that telematics was a necessity for their business, Allport undertook a thorough review of the market. Each telematics provider was judged by vendor performance in various areas including system capability, support, development, account management and price. In keeping with the Specialist Services philosophy, Allport also expressed a need for a single end to end supplier rather than multiple systems for fleet management, data collection and powering management KPIs. Isotrak was awarded the contract following a superior business case based around mpg improvements, fuel saving, reducing CO2, fleet visibility and reduction of wasted fuel.
ATMS uses GPS tracking and telematics to provide enhanced, automated visibility of vehicle movement and location and integrates seamlessly with existing customer planning systems, alerting managers if issues occur. The introduction of ATMS will allow Allport to manage their transport operation through a browser-accessible hosted "managed service‟, which interprets satellite GPS tracking and vehicle telematics data to create business efficiency insights. These insights are based on real-time visibility and measurement of whole-fleet (and individual-vehicle) performance.
Previously, management of Allport's transport operation was administration heavy. With the fleet fully installed and operational, Allport have recognised the immediate benefits of improved efficiency delivered by using ATMS and is confident it will deliver their goal of 5% fuel saving per annum within the estimated ROI of between 1 year and 18 months.
Alan Gunner, Sales & Marketing Director, Isotrak added 'Isotrak is delighted to have been chosen by Allport, and we are happy to implement an end to end solution across their fleet to help enhance efficiencies within their operation. Allport Limited have been a pleasure to work with and throughout the roll-out it has felt like a true partnership.'
