Freight Transport Association FTA state case for infrastructure investment at Lib Dem conference

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has been engaged in quality, face-to-face meetings with senior Lib Dem politicians at the Party’s conference, which kicked off in Liverpool on Sunday. The leading trade body has been taking the opportunity to stress to the coalition Government party’s MPs the importance of protecting long-term, infrastructure investment ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

On Sunday evening, FTA met with Martin Horwood MP, Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Transport Committee.

Michael Webb, Public Affairs Manager, said:
"We were delighted to meet with Mr Horwood, a senior Liberal Democrat politician with a long-standing and well-respected record in transport matters. We seized our chance to set out precisely why investing in our transport infrastructure is an imperative for securing Britain’s economic future.

"With the spending review rapidly approaching, it is crucial that we are in a position to strongly state the case for freight and we look forward to repeating this formula of pre-arranged, formal meetings with a large number of MPs from all of the main parties throughout party conference season."
