The forthcoming FTA annual Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs Conference will be taking a closer look at the low carbon vision for logistics, and will focus on key developments that will enable the logistics sector to significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Chairing the sixth consecutive Carbon Conference will be Mark Sutcliffe, Warburtons Group Transport Manager, who said:
"The Conference will arm delegates with all the necessary information and practices to improve fuel and carbon efficiency today. However we also need to plan for the future, therefore the programme will also focus on the low carbon vision for logistics helping operators to plan ahead by learning about the upcoming vehicle and fuel developments which will lead to further carbon reductions."
Sponsored by LCRS Industry Partner Bridgestone and Iveco, the Carbon Conference aims to provide specialised carbon reduction advice for freight operators with a range of workshops to suit their own fleet and business. Focusing on the latest operational and technological measures, the conference will provide delegates with tactics to improve efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and ultimately lower fuel costs.
Talking about the importance of the event to the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) Rachael Dillon, FTA Climate Change Policy Manager commented:
"LCRS members have told us what they would like to learn about at the FTA Carbon Conference and the interactive presentation programme reflects this; keynote speakers at the event will help all to understand the challenges freight and logistics industry faces in reducing its carbon emissions and most importantly identify the solutions."
The conference programme also includes:
Logistics Carbon Review 2014 launch
Workshop - Meeting the requirements of Energy Audits and carbon reporting obligations
Workshop - Making long haul operations more carbon efficient
Workshop - Options for freight modal shift
Workshop - Making urban logistics more carbon efficient
The presentation of the 2014 LCRS Awards will also take place during the event. The LCRS Awards were developed recognise the efforts of individual LCRS members to reduce their carbon emissions from freight activity. Categories of the 2014 awards are:
Best fuel efficient operation (sponsored by Bridgestone)
Most innovative fleet management (sponsored by Iveco)
Best use of alternative low carbon fuels and technologies
