FTA seminar keeps operators up-to-date with fuel tanker regs

The Freight Transport Association's popular Fuel Tanker Seminar, sponsored by MAN Truck & Bus, will be held on Thursday 15 November at the National Motor Cycle Museum in Birmingham. The event, which will be chaired by Andy Mair, FTA's Head of Engineering, takes place every two years to coincide with any changes to UK dangerous goods legislation linked to ADR or fuel tankers, and is of particular relevance to fleet managers, vehicle engineers and those responsible for specifying road fuel tanker design.

FTA's Andy Mair said:

"The seminar provides an ideal opportunity for delegates to plan for future legislation developments specific to their organisation, and to hear from the Department for Transport, VOSA and other leading industry experts on how to ensure the safety of their operation. The seminar will also cover changes to tank testing procedures, the impact of breaching maintenance requirements, road tanker initiatives, changes to certification and much more."

Mark Price, hazardous goods specialist at MAN Truck & Bus UK, said:

"The weight of legislation is heavier in the hazardous goods sector than almost anywhere else in road transport. As a key supplier to the sector, with over 80% of the vehicle market and our own specialist HazMan service and repair network for both trucks and trailers, MAN has a particular interest in the operation of the hazardous goods fleets of the UK. Our sponsorship of this conference is a natural extension of that interest, and we are delighted to be able to support FTA in this very worthwhile event."

Key sessions include:

- Changes to tank testing

- VCA procedures for tank testing

- Question and answer session with DfT

- Energy Institute initiatives

- Safe Loading Pass Scheme

- Compliance and enforcement update

- When it all goes wrong - legal session

- Reducing risk and ensuring a safe operation
