Full asbestos licence award for Hertel

Hertel has been awarded a full three year asbestos licence renewal following a strict assessment.

The renewal involved a review of Hertel's three-year cycle performance, proof of documented information and challenging staff interviews with inspectors from Her Majesty's Inspectorate for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The industrial services provider was also subject to HSE visits at client sites throughout the UK where it carries out notified asbestos works. Results of all assessments were then collated by the HSE and sent to the head of the Asbestos Licencing Unit which granted Hertel the final seal of approval.

Site operational representatives involved in the asbestos programme - including Hertel UK's Group Asbestos Manager, Steve Watkins - were interviewed as part of the assessment and were instrumental in the successful renewal.

Commenting on the renewal, Steve said: "The full three year award reflects the confidence that HSE Asbestos Licencing Unit has in Hertel to carry out licenced asbestos works for the maximum term allowed. The achievement is of particular merit as the HSE Licencing Unit operates under stringent standards and is able to refuse or reduce the terms of a licence.

"All Hertel asbestos team members are trained to the highest standards and are required to continually develop and improve in line with government legislation to ensure a safe and quality performance in all asbestos operations."

David Fitzsimons, Managing Director for Hertel UK and Ireland, added: "Tackling asbestos removal in a safe and cost effective manner is a priority for Hertel and we have spent a number of decades developing our strategy to deliver complex and challenging projects. I'm pleased that we have achieved the full licence and can continue to provide an outstanding service to our customers."
