Geodis Calberson logistics expand into Birmingham with subsidiary Fortec pallet distribution network

Geodis Calberson, the UK division of global logistics group Geodis, is expanding into Birmingham.

The move is part of the company's plans to expand its network of sites across the UK and increase its market share by offering customers an ever-more extensive set of supply chain solutions that add value to their businesses.

The company currently operates a network of 11 depots across the country. The new Midlands hub, on the Middlemore Industrial Estate, stands at just over 20,000 sq ft on almost four acres of land.

As well as a depot for Geodis it will also serve as a depot for subsidiary company Fortec Pallet Distribution Network, which has a network of more than 65 depots across the UK.

Bruce McLellan, Regional Commercial Manager of Geodis Calberson, said the new depot will become operational on the 1st October with up to 20 new staff, including truck drivers, customer services staff and warehouse workers.

He added: "This move forms part of exciting plans to expand our network of sites across the UK and to grow our business in the West Midlands. More than that the new depot is an ideal site for Fortec given there is storage space for some 1,500 pallets"
