Following exceptional growth Geodis Calberson has opened an additional hub in Birmingham to handle inbound and outbound European cargo for its premium EUROTOP and EUROFIRST services.
This investment comes as Geodis Calberson is expanding in the UK. Indeed the company bucked the national trend during the recession with 15 per cent growth each year for the past two years for its UK and European services.
The opening of the Birmingham International Hub also coincides with the launch of Geodis Calberson's new daily run to and from Italy that offers customers 72 hour door-to-door services for EUROTOP and EUROFIRST.
All of the company's import and export freight movements that previously went through Watford Gap will now be handled at Birmingham. Watford Gap will continue to handle the Fortec Distribution Network, the palletised side of
Geodis Calberson's operations in the UK.
Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director, Geodis Calberson, said: "Geodis Calberson is experiencing fantastic growth in the UK and the opening of the new Birmingham International Hub is testament to the popularity of our offerings.
"This move allows both the UK pallet business and our European services to continue to flourish. These are exciting times for Geodis Calberson.
"We will continue to expand our operations in response to customer demand and are looking forward to sustained growth over the next few years."
The Birmingham hub is conveniently located on the Middlemore Industrial Estate close to the heart of the UK's motorway network and stands at just over 20,000 sq ft on almost four acres of land, offering storage space for some 1,500 pallets. It is open six days a week.
