Gerrit Jan Steenbergen appointed VP of the Zetes 3i innovation centre

Gerrit-Jan Steenbergen is responsible for Zetes' leading research and development, focusing on Voice Recognition, ImageID, RFID and Group Strategic Mobility Solutions.


Prior to his role at Zetes, Gerrit-Jan Steenbergen was Global Head of Store Systems at AS Watson (including brands such as Kruidvat, Superdrug, ICI and Paris XL).


Gerrit-Jan Steenbergen has recently joined Zetes as the new VP for the Group's 3i Innovation Centre. In this role, he is responsible for leading research and development within the 3i Innovation Centre, focusing on Voice Recognition, ImageID, RFID and Group Strategic Mobility Solutions.


Created around the three principles of 'Innovate, Integrate and Improve', the aim of the Zetes Innovation Centre is to provide cross border technology and systems integration expertise, which enables customers to achieve greater supply chain traceability, real time data visibility and improved operational performance.

Prior to his role at Zetes, Gerrit-Jan Steenbergen was Global Head of Store Systems at AS Watson - an important Zetes customer - where for the past 10 years, he led the development of strategic IT store solutions for the group including EPoS and other store based IT.


With over 15 years of business and ICT experience managing complex system developments and global, multi-cultural projects and roll-outs, Gerrit-Jan is a regular lecturer and author of publications including 'The Cost and Savings of Auto-ID' and 'More Quality'.


Marcel Kars, formerly in charge of the 3i Innovation Centre, has endorsed a new role within the organization and is VP Central Europe being, as such, responsible for the Belgian, Dutch, German and Swiss territories.
