Global demand for bagging systems drives manufacturing expansion

Automated Packaging Systems is expanding manufacturing operations to meet increasing global demand for its bagging systems and materials. The company, whose European head office and materials manufacturing facility is in the UK, has acquired two new manufacturing and support buildings in Ohio, USA.

"Our current manufacturing facilities are at maximum capacity and we plan to begin phasing into these new buildings over the coming months," explains Automated Packaging Systems President and Chief Operating Officer Cliff Brehm. "Our new buildings have a combined floor area of almost 20,000m2. They'll house production facilities for new bag packaging systems and bag materials, as well as a new customer support centre and training zone."

The company is committed to creating 85 new jobs in the first three years of its US expansion programme, and plans to have 200 to 250 new jobs there within 10 years. Automated Packaging now has three manufacturing and office buildings in Ohio and a total of nine manufacturing plants worldwide.

Recent expansion of its European head office in Malvern, Worcestershire, is now complete. The new building is fully commissioned and one core objective for the business is to reduce lead times for stock and printed bags. In addition, the new facility enables the launch of a new range of medical paper pouches. The company has confirmed its commitment to innovation, unveiling plans to develop new bagging materials and bag features.
