A British automotive design company lauded for its award-winning vehicles and innovative manufacturing processes has paid tribute to the ‘high standard’ of Facom tools for being ‘the best’ in the market.
The Surrey-based British automotive design company chose Facom tools as its official supplier and used the brand’s tools while working on their award-winning eco car, the T.25.
The T.25 compact city car made its road debut in the Brighton to London Future Car Challenge last year winning both its classes, while the company’s iStream manufacturing process – which is based on recyclability and reusability – took the SMMT 2010 Automotive Innovation Award.
CEO and Technical Director Gordon Murray, a former McLaren design guru, said: "iStream delivers lightweight with high levels of safety – it brings Formula One technology within reach of the everyday motorist."
The company chose Facom Tools to help build the T.25 – a car which ‘could change the entire game’ according to the BBC’s Top Gear – on the basis that Facom tools are of ‘the highest standard’.
The compact T.25 vehicle weighs just 575kg and offers real consumer benefits including the ability to park at 90 degrees to the curb or up to three cars in one parallel parking space.
Simon Porter, Workshop Operations Manager at Gordon Murray Design, said: "Having recruited some of the most highly qualified and experienced people in the automotive industry to work on the projects at Gordon Murray Design, we wanted to ensure that the workshop facilities and tools were of the highest standard.
"Technicians of such a calibre deserve the best which is exactly what Facom delivers.
"I have personally been involved with the motorsport and automotive industries for more than 30 years and have worked with tools from virtually every manufacturer – the excellent quality and design of Facom tools mean that they stand out from the crowd.
"The Facom representatives have a thorough understanding of what is required for our workshop and the team and we are extremely pleased to be continuing our Official Supplier relationship with them."
Alison Howard, UK marketing manager for Facom, said: "Facom innovates in all technologies and in areas of activity from design and materials to new processes and methods, so we are thrilled to be the official supplier for a company like Gordon Murray Design that is committed to similar achievements in its industry.
"Every Facom-designed product is developed through extensive, rigorous field tests to ensure quality, safety and reliability so to hear renowned professional users like Gordon Murray Design rely on our tools is high praise indeed."
