GPS tracking system offers most portable and cost effective solution for fleet vehicles

Transport managers now have access to a portable and more cost effective system for monitoring their fleet. Launched at the start of 2012, a new GPS tracking system known as Bubble Tracker can be easily transferred from vehicle to vehicle. The device also emerged as the cheapest option for vehicle tracking according to figures released by Trackcompare in January.

The Bubble Tracker uses GPS satellite signals to produce live snapshots of a vehicle’s position as well as storing historical data which can be transferred to an excel spreadsheet. The tracker can be moved between different vehicles making it perfect for companies who regularly use contract hire. The system monitors multiple vehicles and alerts can also be set which are triggered when a vehicle travels beyond a pre-set area.

Weighing just 70g, the tracking device measures 79 x 42 x 18 mm and can run on its internal battery or be plugged into the vehicle’s electrics. It can also be mounted under the dash, in the boot, glove box or any other discreet location. Costing just £83.29+vat to buy and as little as 28p a day to run, the Bubble Tracker’s developers believe it is the most cost effective option currently on the market.

"Many of our customers use their Bubble Trackers to monitor their flexi fleet vehicles because it is so simple to install and can be easily used by those without any technical knowledge," comments Jamie Ellwood, MD of Bubble Tracker. "Another popular feature with our customers is the use of historical data which allows them to monitor staff location and duration of lunch breaks."

GPS tracking devices are increasingly being used in business to reduce fuel costs, monitor driving standards, assisting in calculating business mileage and making deliveries more efficient.

The Bubble Tracker is also designed to be used to help ensure lone worker safety as well as tracking children, pets, vulnerable people and assets.
