Habasit Rossi appoints new General Manager

Habasit Rossi, world leader in the manufacture of conveyor belting and gear motors, has appointed Richard Smith to the position of UK general manager.

His aim is to build on the company's solid foundations comprising outstanding service levels, premium brand and excellent product quality. Mr Smith will achieve this in cooperation with the most extensive network of distribution partners in the UK.

As part of the on-going 2008 Habasit Rossi drive into new markets, Mr Smith will be spearheading campaigns into sectors as diverse as furniture and fresh produce, where Habasit Rossi can provide big cost savings.

Mr Smith commented: "Last year the company was strengthened by its acquisition of KVP and investment in service centres and training, which have created very firm foundations from which to lead the company towards an even larger market share."

The company also plans to raise the UK profile of Rossi Gearmotors. Rossi Gearmotors has continuously expanded its range of gear reducers and gear motors over the past few years and Mr Smith will be looking to capitalise on these developments.

Habasit Rossi's overall aim is to bring new and innovative solutions to the marketplace, which should appeal to large and medium sized end users as well as OEM's.

Mr Smith added: "Habasit Rossi has delivered significant benefits to select customers in terms of reducing downtime, energy savings, waste product savings and lower cleaning costs. The company is now looking for other conveyor belt users who could benefit from these solutions."

The support of the Habasit Rossi team has also impressed Mr Smith, who concluded: "I have an excellent and dynamic team to work with and I am confident that we will be seeing noticeable growth in terms of market share and level of service, both within belting sales and gear motors in the near future."
