Hellmann Healthcare Logistics launches new shipping service from Goa

MarcHellmann Healthcare Logistics, the vertical solution of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics that caters for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device sectors, has announced that it is now able to offer sea freight solutions from the south west Indian region of Goa, which Hellmann will use as a gateway port.

The Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Association (GPMA) is encouraging pharmaceutical manufacturers to use Goa as a gateway port, as recommended by Hellmann, instead of the frequently used Nhava Sheva, by promising:

- Weekly feeder shipments from Goa to Colombo or Mundra/Pipavav

- Connections at the transshipment port

- Ocean freight competitiveness

Andreas Lohmeier, Director of Hellmann Healthcare Logistics, said:

"Our work in the region has been monitored by the pharma trade in India to see if using Goa as a gateway port delivered the benefits we knew it would. The success of provisional shipments proved the connections at the transshipment port and the transit times were highly competitive and we are now in a position to replicate this route for multiple pharma accounts. In fact, we've started some trial shipments from the port in Goa for other customers this month and are currently working on DDP and DDU ocean freight requirements for the UK and USA inland destinations.

He continued:

India is still very much an emerging market and one that Hellmann Healthcare Logistics is focussing on heavily at the moment."
