Hörmann UK, one of the country's leading suppliers of industrial and domestic doors, has recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practice amongst UK contractors.
The recognition underlines Hörmann's commitment to support the growing call from government and other quarters for UK industry to improve its safety record.
Under the SAFEcontractor system businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. The companies that meet the high standard set are included on a database, which is accessible via the website: www.safecontractor.com.
Hörmann's commercial director Alan Jenkins, comments; "Hörmann has always been proud of its health and safety record and our application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for uniform standard across the business. Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies.
"Health and Safety is a major consideration in all of our product development and this, combined with the quality of our doors and operators, has resulted in our enviable safety record."
SAFEcontractor is operated by the National Brittania Group, whose managing director James Ostler commented; "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Hörmann has done. The company's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within this sector."
