Howard Tenens celebrated the roll out of its Dual Fuel (gas and diesel) HGV fleet at the Guildhall in London as part of the 2010 Cart Marking ceremony. At last year's event we launched our low carbon transport initiative and presented our first dual fuel vehicle which was put through its paces during a 6 month trial; one year later, with continued investment in our sustainable logistics strategy we now have a dual fuel HGV fleet in place. Dan Morris Group Property Director presented the Dual Fuel Mercedes Actros for Marking.
Howard Tenens, having invested in the technology, has demonstrated the operational performance of the vehicles; it is evident that lower carbon HGVs is a reality now and not just a future concept.
To assist with the limited fuelling infrastructure in the UK we have installed a natural gas refuelling station at Andover and have plans for others across the Group. This will help other operators enter the gas vehicle market at lower capital cost.
Catherine Crouch, Director of Tenens Environmental said, "Our fleet department and drivers have been fantastic, their interest and support of the technology have been key to making Dual Fuel a success. The feedback we are getting from customers is extremely positive which has added momentum to our sustainable distribution plans."
