HRH Princess Royal presents Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport Awards

At a gala dinner in London on 7th October, to celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals in the supply chain, passenger transport and planning, HRH The Princess Royal, Patron of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT), presented the CILT Annual Awards for Excellence 2010. The Awards are designed to promote and encourage best practice within the logistics and transport sectors and are supported by organisations and individuals from throughout the industry.


The event was held at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square and was attended by over 500 guests. It was chaired by the President of CILT, Sir Moir Lockhead OBE FCILT, and hosted by BBC presenter Declan Curry.


Awards were conferred in fifteen categories together with CILT's special award for outstanding achievement, the Sir Robert Lawrence Award, which was presented by CILT Chairman Paul Brooks FCILT to Peter Surtees FCILT, Director European Supply Chain, Kimberly-Clark Limited.


Peter Surtees joined Kimberly-Clark in 1994 following a career spent in the 3PL industry working for a range of companies including Sutton & Sons, Robson's Border Transport, UCI Logistics and NYK.


He has been a leading pioneer in the promotion of effective collaborative schemes between operators both within the UK, and with European logistics companies. Peter's vision, tenacity and desire to innovate have enabled him to create and deliver significant and complex projects resulting in very significant cost savings and service improvements. His enthusiasm and constant endeavours for ever more efficiency and cost reductions have truly changed the face of the European supply chain for the better.


Peter Surtees is a founding board member of the European Logistics Users Providers and Enablers Group (ELUPEG), sits on the UK ECR group and is an active member of diverse industry groups promoting collaboration and supply chain innovation.
