HRH The Princess Royal takes part in FTA seminar day at Multimodal

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, patron of Transaid, took part in a special panel session on the work of the charity during the Freight Transport Association's seminar day at Multimodal.

Transaid supports transport initiatives in developing countries and the session discussed ways of encouraging staff to become involved in fundraising activities and professional volunteering, and how this can help build strong teams and lift staff morale.

Referring to road safety and the difficulties experienced in Africa and developing countries, Her Royal Highness said:

"These countries have huge transport and logistics problems which are much more of an issue for them than perhaps here in the United Kingdom. Transaid has filled that gap and sets a very good example to other agencies of how to improve the way they operate."

Referring to Multimodal, she added:

"Events like these are of huge benefit to Transaid in getting the message across, as investment can make a vast difference to its work."

The session was chaired by FTA Chief Executive Theo de Pencier, and other panel members included Gary Forster, Chief Executive of Transaid; Maeve Magner, Strategic Advisor, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Transaid trustee; and Bob Faichnie of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK.

FTA supports Transaid through its membership renewal donation scheme, which gives members the option to make a donation to Transaid along with their annual FTA membership fees, and a variety of other fundraising initiatives.
