Ideal Waste Paper Co purchases three Bobcat S220 skid-steer loaders from Versatile Equipment

Ideal Waste Paper Co, one of the largest privately owned wastepaper merchants in the UK, has purchased three Bobcat S220 skid-steer loaders for use in the company's paper recycling plants in Bermondsey in South London, which together recycle over 100,000 tonnes of paper every year. Supplied by Versatile Equipment, based at Borough Green in Kent, the compact nature and small turning circles of the S220 skid-steer loaders ensure they can perform more efficiently and much faster than wheeled loaders in the tight confines of the Bermondsey plants.

Simon Scott, Director of Ideal Waste Paper Co, said: "The Bobcat S220s are used continuously and have been designed for working indoors in high temperatures in this arduous application. We have tried a number of brands of skid-steer loader and have found that the Bobcat machines are by far the most durable and the only ones up to the job. Each machine is equipped with precisely matched Bobcat industrial fork and grapple attachments to carry out the sorting and handling work."

The S220 skid-steer loaders are used to sort various different grades of wastepaper and load it onto conveyers feeding baling machines for conversion into graded bales for customers. They work 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week, unloading and sorting wastepaper delivered throughout the day on Ideal Waste Paper's own fleet of vehicles including bulk container lorries and specialist waste recycling vehicles.

With a rated operating capacity of 1035 kg, the S220 radial lift path model is the smallest in the Bobcat range of large frame skid-steer loaders. Powered by the 54 kW Kubota V3800-Di-T-E3 diesel engine, the S220 has a tipping load of 2069 kg and a lift height of 3109 mm. The lift arms feature dual tilt cylinders for enhanced visibility of the attachments on the machine and provide for easy entry and exit for the operator. The S220 provides 80.25 l/min of auxiliary hydraulic flow, allowing it to work with a wide range of attachments.

With over 40 years of continual service to the print industry, Ideal Waste Paper remains one of the largest independent processors of recyclable material in the UK today. From the heart of London, the company is ideally situated to service both Local Authority and commercial enterprises in London and the Home Counties. Ideal Waste Paper adheres to a robust quality management system that is compliant to international quality standard ISO 14001. This enables the company to deliver secure and environmentally friendly 'end to end' solutions for controlled quality disposal.

Many customers are compliant with ISO 14001 and Ideal Waste Paper will work very closely with them to ensure compliance with all aspects of environmental legislation. Very strict guidelines are in place to ensure environmental polices are strictly adhered to with the objective of preventing pollution, harm to human health, reducing environmental impact and where possible providing environmental benefits.

Ideal Waste Paper collects waste paper from customers where the material is segregated at source. Where required, the company will install waste extraction systems in the customers' premises, designed to sort material into its designated categories. Once the material is collected it is brought back to the sorting plants in Bermondsey, where contaminated material is removed prior to grading and baling.
